It Has Been Way Too Long

We have been making bouquets, cleaning and planting gardens, hanging garland and lights and even helping with some events. We have found you some inspiration from other florists which is pictured above. The Green Dandelinon, created this beautiful arrangement. They are located in Portland, Oregon sharing our common love for ranunculus and hydrangeas.

We have stacked our chairs high to make sure we can reach the shelves for the holiday season.

We have also made last minute bouquets for the bride that is in dire need. This bouquet was created for a bride that wanted to use simple autumnal colors. Everyone who saw it was wowed. With the mums in full abundance in fall combined with orange roses, who could say no to this beauty?

Think Tropical

Chicago may be a wee bit wet and a bit colder than usual. This red monochromatic arrangement can remind us that somewhere out there it is warm. This arrangement is so tropical and textured. It has a stunning abundance of fall colors, maroon and burgundy, leucodendron and sedum and pops of pink bouvardia.

Don't you just love this dusty pink colored sedum? It is warmly nested in this flowery mound.

It is even subtle enough for a bedside table.

Since, the sun is going down a bit sooner and nothing is better than your cozy bed. We thought you could enjoying looking at these cool colored arrangements. What do you think of these subdue colors? Rather calming for a chilly fall night.

Easy Breezy

The geese flying south, the cool breeze and the slightly shorter days only means one thing. That one thing is fall. Flowers can still scream cheer without being the usual fall color palette. Enjoy a lovely mixture of yellows. These subtle hints of blue thistle and green roses and brown grasses, keep summer alive and reminds us that the cold winds are coming through.

September is the New August

August used to be the month to sit back and enjoy the end of summer. What about September? The weather here in Chicago is so great. The skies are still blue and its just a perfect time to enjoy the great windy city. We can sit back and anticipate the leaves changing colors and the abundance of squash and pumpkins that are soon to come! Throw on a a sweat shirt and look, the colors of fall have begun.

Carnivorous Plants

The front of our shop always fills up with flies in late August. We know it is gross yet, they feed these little plants. These food chain whackers are the one and only venus fly traps. They are so interesting and pretty prehistoric looking. Do you have a fly problem? These plant jaws are your decorative answer. They are also great house plant but, they do have a dormant period.

Summer is Still Here

This is the time of year when you can simple walk around the block and everything is in bloom. Hydrangeas have exploded and the bee balm is out in it's full sprawl! Can you believe the colors of these roses? The light peach rose is like a beautiful ball of cotton candy. Step outside, don't let this summer pass you by. Look around at the abundance of colors. Go be a tree hugger.

Coxcomb

Coxcomb it looks like a colorful brain. There are so many colors of coxcomb and each one is simply stunning. Each has its distinct differences, either in their shape or their coloring. The arrangements here are a perfect representation of how coxcomb can truly hold it's own. Mixed with queen ann's lace, curly willow and proteas they prove to be the genius of this brainy floral array!

Peonies! & Peonies! Lilies! & Lilies!

For a wee bit of art history we thought you would enjoy a few images of Henri Fantin-Latour! His stunning oil paintings of flowers are so vast that it could take days to enjoy them all. You will not be able to find this particular type of work here in Chicago. Instead, you could appreciate his Portrait of Manet, another oil on canvas at The Art Institute of Chicago.

Feel free to stop in to smell the flowers this great painter relished.

If you have not seen our succulents selection you should. They are in our indoor green house. You only have to water these plants once a week if they are outside in the sun. If they are indoors you only have to water them once a month! This means you can go on vacation without thinking that you are killing a living thing. There are so many varieties. Keep it simple with one type of plant or mix it up with a bunch of different textures and colors!

Saint Mother's Day!

While planting a garden a young boy came out of his house and said it was Saint Mother's Day on Sunday! We giggled and realized how all and all this is a true statement. No matter who your mother saint is, we owe them a day. On every other day of the week it is daughter or son day! Here are a few things we thought you might like for the saints in your life.

Laundry soap that smells good which makes laundry more enjoyable and it is good for the environment.
A clothes brush which removes lint, dust and hair from fabrics. This means less trips to the dry cleaners!

A Saint Mother's Day bouquet!
