This year we got lots of adorable felted ornaments. They are such fun to put on the tree and come in a variety of sizes. So adorable.

floral inspiration: saipua
We are all kind of addicted to Saipua's blog. They make such beautifully organic arrangements. One thing I particularly like about their style, is how they seem to cluster lots of different flowers into one arrangement. It's so nice to see such a variety in a small bouquet like this one. So organic like it was just picked from the garden.
martha stewart perfection
I just felt like getting in the holiday spirit today. Lately we've been making lots of arrangements for people going to holiday parties. It's always so much fun to see the variety of arrangements we can come up with, but there's nothing quite like a good amaryllis. Whether potted or fresh cut, they always look perfect for this time of year! And Martha Stewart made them even cuter with the addition of peppermints!

marguerite gardens website!!
Our new website is up and running! This has been so exciting for us, as we've been open for almost three years without a website for the flower shop. There are tons of great photos, so go take a look!

autumn flower fun
One of the most fun parts about working in a flower shop is just playing with flowers. For no other reason than to create something pretty. Marguerite made this one. So pretty in the antique Mason jar.

creepy crawly
I guess this is a little creepy, but we have a lot of doll heads and vintage dolls in our shop. They are a fun alternative to the typical Halloween decorations. Our store is covered in them right now! And pretty much every other day of the year...

pumpkins!!
Yes, it is officially fall! I know I'm a little late here, but we still have a couple months of autumn left! Sadly though, our store is not this full of pumpkins anymore. I guess that's not such a bad thing though. Did you get your pumpkins yet?

bouquet of the week
Fall is in full swing at the flower shop. We've been making lots of arrangements using these hydrangeas, sedum, leucadendron, and other fun leafy autumn branches! More photos of the shop (complete with pumpkins!) to come!

andersonville arts & home weekend
This Friday, October 2nd, is the annual neighborhood art walk. This year our artist is one of our favorites, Ben Rumback. He is a local artist in Chicago and does some amazing work. Though, I am partial to him because we're getting married next month! We will be open late until ten on Friday. So if you are in Chicago and want to see some fun art, stop on by!

late summer wedding
These are from a wedding we did in August. It was held at Architectural Artifacts here in Chicago. The bride wanted plants that her guests could take home after the reception. So, we planted, oh about 85 of these. We loved her idea so much, we even made a few for the shop!
bouquet of the week
The President herself, Marguerite, made this gorgeous arrangement last week! I love the vibrant pinks and trick carnations!

look ma! no dirt!
Lately we have been having fun with more varieties of air plants. Typically, we keep lots of succulents in the shop because they are so easy to care for. These other air plants require more attention, but are totally worth it.

shop update
Here are a few things in our shop this month. We recently got a bunch of really neat metal flowers, antique keys, and bird houses. Of course we are always acquiring more and more antiques. The antique keys are my absolute favorite.

a gorgeous bouquet
Once Wed had this gorgeous bouquet posted the other day and I fell in love. The twine is such an interesting, unexpected element.

Andersonville Sidewalk Sale!
One of the great things about having a shop in Andersonville are all the events that go on to promote shopping at local businesses. This weekend, July 31-August 2, we are having our Annual Sidewalk Sale. The whole neighborhood will be participating and it should be a great time! We'll have lots of great sale items so if you happen to be in the area, come on by!!
flower of the moment: viburnum
This arrangement is actually from about a month ago, but I just love it. Lately I've been really enjoying working with viburnum. One of our many favorite flowers to work with at Marguerite Gardens. And I should know the name of the other fuzzy flower, but it is failing me at the moment. Is it Nigella?
Lacey Linens
The flower shop has been looking pretty darn cute lately. Marguerite brought in some of her antique linens. I love the vintage quality they lend to our store. Verrry cute! And did you notice those giant pink flowers? We've been getting giant Coxcomb from Holland. They are so much fun to work into arrangements. They also look great on their own. So striking!

pretty succulents & wallpaper rolls
We're pretty much obsessed with these succulents. Right now they are living in our very sunny window, but they end up all over the shop because we are constantly moving things around. It's nice to switch things up!

bouquet of the week! stock & ranunculus
Each week we make an arrangement for the front desk at Sine Qua Non Salon in Andersonville. This one made the cut (bad pun, I know) last week. Having a salon next door to your job is kind of a good and bad thing. I'm always convincing myself I need hair products that I really don't need. There's nothing wrong with looking, right?

pretty photos of flowers
Some photos a customer took in our shop. She was a sweet woman who teaches kindergarten. How cute is that?

a lavish party
It's not everyday that we get to do a really lavish party. So when it comes around, we get really excited/stressed out/really excited again! These arrangements were especially fun to create. Needless to say, we were all very tired by the end of the day. I think they really turned out to be very lovely!
